Tanker drivers on Monday caused an uproar following the shooting to death of a truck driver by an angry policeman whose beat was located at a checkpoint in Uso, along Akure/Owo Federal Highway of Ondo State.
It was gathered from an eye witness that the incident occurred at a checkpoint due to a serious argument between the policeman and the ill-fated driver who was on his way to Abuja.
Consequently, one of the policemen lost his temper and shot the driver on the head at close range after which he died on the spot.
The development got other tanker drivers on rampage which caused gridlock on the highway.
A detachment of policemen from the command was drafted to the scene of the incident to control the unrest.
