UNIPORT: ASUU Meeting Ends In Disarray After SUG Invasion Over IPPS

Meeting of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the University of Port Harcourt ended in disarray on Wednesday after the invasion and disruption by Students Union Government of the institution.

The meeting was hinged on deliberations and subsequently to address the press on issues of the Integrated Payment and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

The students who came in solidarity carried placards bearing, ‘Say No to Alteration of Our Academic Calendar’, ‘Let 4 years be 4 years, let 5 years be 5 years, ‘We don’t need ASUU Strike’, and others, had around 10:30 a.m., about 30 minutes into the meeting stopped the proceedings of the body.

The protest at the moment has left lecturers who were to discuss way forward on the IPPIS stranded.
