Ikwerrengwo Community Cries Out For Good Road, Reminds Wike Of Promise

The people of Ikwerrengwo, Umuebulu, Chokota and Imeh communities in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State have cried out bitterly over the protracted neglect of Umuebule-Imeh road and appealed to His Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to come to their aid.

Following the thread of conversation OKB News Online had with the Ochimba of Ikwerrengwo, HRH Eze Felix Onyeche in 2015, former youth leader and indigence of the community, Hon Amadi Nathaniel made a passionate request to the Rivers State government to fix the road, which he said is a panacea to economic revival.

Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike

“I want to thank the governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who gave a promise to us at Umuebulu Market square that within his first 90 days in office, he would construct this road.  I want to remind him of his promise to the communities which come under Igbo Ward 3 where we voted for him, especially Umuebulu to Igbo Etche Road”.

Amadi said, “The people of this community are living in hardship.  We need to have a taste of the dividends and benefits of the state government. All we ask for is just this road.  What he is doing for other communities, let him also do for us.  Igbo Etche comprises of Umuebulu, Ikwerrengwo, Chokota and Imeh.  That road is a state road and has been abandoned for such a long time now.  We cannot access other communities and do our business.  Businesses in this area; schools, churches, farms have crumbled.  We are in the state of dilemma.  We are asking him to come to our aid”.
