Three promising men were knocked down by a one-way high speed vehicle last week in the Rumuodara axis of East West Road. The men died instantly before they were rushed to the hospital.
In a similar event, on Sunday, 26th May 2019, a teenager had his head and body bashed with blood oozing out by a vehicle riding on a one-way. The incident occurred as he attempted to cross the road, thinking that there was no traffic on the right hand side.
There are too many bad spots in East West Road, resulting in vehicles running on a one-way.
Speaking on the development, the Rivers State former Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Emma Okah said “The East West Road is like a sore-tongue, it will be nice if the federal government will summon the political courage and get the Road completed as speedily as possible so that People of the Niger Delta region can begin to use it with joy. The bottom line is cooperation; we want cooperation from the federal government as a State”.
Okah went on, “Rivers people expect that the federal government should work closely with the state government especially as the governor said the doors are open and he is ready to collaborate with people at the centre for the good of the state”.
